The Donald Bruce Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library celebrated its 30th anniversary on July 20 with a vibrant day of activities that reflected its role as a cornerstone of the community. The event kicked off at 10:00 a.m. with an interactive Reptile Show, where attendees of all ages could learn about and interact with a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. This educational and engaging session highlighted the importance of understanding and appreciating diverse ecosystems.

In the afternoon, songwriters Weba Garretson and Ralph Gorodetsky performed a unique musical set inspired by themes from the natural world. Their blend of folk, blues, and jazz captivated the audience with imaginative songs about garden slugs, scrub jays, and the fragility of existence. The performance was followed by a reception, allowing attendees to mingle and celebrate the milestone together.

Leading up to the anniversary, the library hosted a week of events designed for patrons of all ages. Programs included a "D&D at the Library" adventure for young gamers, daily storytelling sessions, and hands-on creative workshops like brick-building playtime. These activities emphasized the library's dedication to fostering learning, creativity, and community connection.

Guests who participated in the anniversary celebration received commemorative canvas bags and books as tokens of appreciation, underscoring the library's gratitude for three decades of community support. The event served as a reminder of the library's ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of its patrons and creating a space where learning and creativity thrive.

The Donald Bruce Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library’s 30th anniversary was a joyful occasion that celebrated its history and reaffirmed its mission to inspire and connect the community for many years to come.
